Basic Steps for Capturing Images Using a Digital Camera

Image-Pro

This section provides basic instructions for using the Image-Pro’s capture utility to view and capture images from a digital camera.  It assumes your camera is already connected and configured.  See Setting up a Digital Camera for instructions.

To view and capture images from your digital camera:

Click on the Live button on the Capture ribbon:

The Capture Preview window is displayed.

Focus and frame your camera.

Physically move the device so that the source is appropriately framed, and physically adjust the lens so that the source is optimally focused.

Use the controls of the Camera Control dialog in the Details pane to adjust the various settings available for previewing and capturing images.

For example, you can set the exposure and binning, white balance, gain, and capture area through the controls on the Details pane. If you are using a digital camera, you alternately have the option of using the Auto-Setup button.  This button tells Image-Pro to do the best job it can to automatically generate a good quality image.  Refer to Specifying Capture and Live Preview Settings for more information.

When the preview and capture settings are as you want them, you are ready to acquire images.

To acquire an image, click on the Capture button on the Capture ribbon:

The captured image appears in the Image-Pro workspace as an unsaved image file.
